IFE conducts many research projects funded by the EU. We aim to significantly expand our EU project portfolio in the years ahead. We prepare and submit call responses to Horizon Europe, Digital Europe and Euratom and actively participate in networks in Norway and Brussels.

Main tasks and responsibilities

The EU Business Developer is organised in the Digital Systems Division and reports to the Head of the Business Development department. This position will work closely with IFE-DS management , research divisions, and other IFE support functions within the EU.

Your primary responsibilities will be to initiate, coordinate and supervise proposal writing, including developing high-impact consortiums and providing internal support to EU projects and applications while maintaining an overview of the research sectors' EU-related activities and focus. You will develop an overall EU strategy for IFE-DS and its various research areas and match EU calls and programmes with IFE-DS’ capabilities and resources. These tasks require a full overview of the content of the EU's strategic plans and their changes.

We expect you to see the connection between the EU's expected impacts and IFE-DS's project proposals and project portfolio. Also, you will contribute to and administrate the IFEs/DSs repository of templates, reusable text components, FAQs, and spreadsheets related to proposal writing.

You will represent IFE at EU-related forums and reference groups such as the Research Council of Norway, FFA, SPIRE and EERA AISBL, and keep up to speed with Research Council courses, meetings, instruments, tools and consultancy services.

You will be responsible for skills transfer within IFE-DS, using digital systems and workshops. You will assist in the preparation of IFE's consultancy input on Norwegian research and innovation policy to government ministries, the Research Council, Innovation Norway and similar agencies.

Professional and personal qualifications
You have research experience with EU-funded projects and, most importantly, in the preparation, leadership and supervision of project proposals. You cultivate a diverse professional network within government agencies such as the Research Council of Norway and Innovation Norway, as well as contacts within the EU, the industrial sector and research institutes. You have excellent collaboration skills and are effective and experienced in building networks, consortiums and relationships. You are dedicated, structured and focused on high-quality results. You are flexible and versatile and welcome the opportunity to take initiative. You can work independently and collaboratively on a wide diversity of projects within various research areas.

Education

  • In the natural/applied sciences, preferably related to digitalisation
  • A PhD or master’s degree equivalent in a relevant field(s)

Languages
You are highly proficient in oral and written English. It will also be advantageous if you are skilled in oral and written Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish.
